Mist over The Trossachs

The developers have their eyes on this area for housing. Dunblane ( top right) has been ermarked for more housing and Park of Keir ( bottom right) is where  Judy Murray waants to build  tennis centre, museum to her son Andy, golf course, hotel and ..yes of course housing.

Yes, of course, we locals are up in arms bout it. This is our Greenbelt. Now we are being called the `"Greenbelt mafia"!

The eyes have it...

Eye x-ray

Had my annual check up with my optician in Bridge-of-Allan and she very kindly let me photograph the monitor with my eye x-ray.

Not for the first time have I been struck by the similarity between the eyes and the planets.

But maybe I should not be surprised. Afer all we are all stardust.

The Body Snatchers- Callander

This is the six sided watchtower in Callander built during the late 18th century to guard against the body snatchers. There werent enough legal bodies for medical research and there was a flourishing business in Edinburgh led by Burke and Hare to dig up freshly buried bodies for research. Anxious relatives had this watchtower built and it was used to guard the graveyard.

Bones

Bones from my studio: ( left) Eskimo sculpture made from whalebone and (right) a sheep’s jawbone picked up from walking on the Ochils.

Well, this got me thinking about Luminate , a new festival on ageing  launched this month in Scotland and this quote from Confucius.

“Old age, believe me, is a good and pleasant thing. It is true you are gently shouldered off the stage, but then you are given such a comfortable front stall as spectator."

Discover aperture!

I have just got aperture and this is my first photo using it. This looks like being a great tool. Wish I had taken the plunge and downloaded it before.

Dog walking - Mine Woods. Bridge of Allan

The other day the local freesheet, Allanwater News, published a photo of a dead dog to illustrate a feature on some controvery over new paths in the Mine Woods.

That dog was ours, Chas, who passed away some six years ago!

This is our new dog, Miles, walking in Mine Woods. Ok all spaniels look alike - but believe me to their owners they are very individual. For the record all the above photos are of Miles...

Tragedy on the Sheriffmuir reservoir

Back in the winter a deer attempted to cross this frozen reservoir. The ice cracked.
It fell in. By the time a rescue party arrived it was too late.

A week later Miles, my Springer spaniel, took off across the frozen water, and I watched horrified. What to do? He was unharmed.

Sometimes a neighbour's tree adds to the vista from your own garden. This is the case with this Silver birch in the garden next door.
